2017. Who’s Ready For Some Roguetime? 2

Well kids, the holidays are behind us, and the Rogue Machine is gearing back up.

We are looking forward to 2017….perhaps we’ll do a better job at keeping the blog updated this year! We are really good at managing the Facebook page, but the website is a bigger challenge for some reason.

However, we have updated the Repertoire page, so you can see the latest and greatest R2age!

We are pretty freaking jazzed about playing with Banned In Japan this coming weekend (2/4/17) @ Nissi’s! That is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!

We are back at Liquid Mechanics on Feb 11, and then after a crazy-long hiatus, we will blow the roof off of the Lazy Dog – Erie on Feb 25th!

Thanks to each and every one of you who come out and make this thing even possible!

Rogue On!

Fall/Winter Gigs Have Been Amazing, Thanks To You!

Some nights just go *really* well. November 14th, we had what was one of my favorite gigs to date at Odd 13 Brewing in Lafayette. We had a full house, we put together a decent set, we had out of town family in for the event, and it was just a complete blast!

We’ve been fortunate to have had a good run of Fall gigs this year. We played Nissis’, which is one of the premier rooms in the north metro. We did the Bly Bar Halloween Freakout again this year, and it did not disappoint.

We did our Christmastime JamParty @ Liquid Mechanics, and finally got back to Bootstrap Brewing.

2015 was a banner year for The Rogues! Here’s to a happy, healthy, gig-laden 2016!

Wow. Liquid McBirthday was Ridiculous!

So the one year anniversary of Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company / Eric’s Birthday was off. the. chain. Thanks to everyone who came out, and to all of you crazy freaks who sang songs, drank with us, and bought t-shirts! We expected to sell a few shirts that night. We did NOT expect to sell out of Ladies shirts! That was pure craziness.

Eric, Davin, and Seth at LMx are the true rockstars of the evening. They’ve built a phenomenal place to hang in the Erie/Lafayette/Boulder area, and we’re just happy that they asked us to be a part of it!

We are looking forward to settling into a groove where LMx becomes the homebase for R2 over the next year or so. We’ve already locked down dates through 2016!

Summer Lovin’, Had Me A Blast

I cannot believe that the summer has zipped by!

Summer is always a challenge with everyone’s work and vacation schedules, but we managed to squeeze some gigs in during the break…and add some tunes. We are, however, looking forward to getting back into the swing of things next week. We are JAZZED to be playing the Liquid Mechanics First Anniversary Party!! It’s also Eric’s birthday, so we’re gonna pull out all the stops and have a blast!

There will also be t-shirts! Rogue Two T-shirts! They come in two designs for guys and gals with the logo mid-chest, positioned horizontally and vertically up the right side. The guys/unisex shirts are crew-neck, modern fit (and thus tend to run a little small). The gals’ shirts are “ladies cut”, v-neck, and look awesome!

2015-08-12 08.09.49We’re doing a limited first run to have them in time for the 8/22 show, so if you’d like to reserve one, please do! Shirts will be $15 of your Earth dollars. Just drop Eric an email @ eric@rogue2music.com and let him know what style (men’s or ladies), which orientation (horizontal or vertical), and what size – and we’ll sock one away for you! Oh, and we’ll have a new stash of stickers

After the big LMx shindig, we’ve got a wedding to Rogue up, and a private event to play and then August will be but a memory. Liquid Mechanics will be “home base” for the Rogues for the remainder of 2015, we’ll be there just about every month!

See you all soon! Rogue on!

February is toast. March is blazing.

What’s up, Rogues? It’s been four shows since we last talked. We’ve been back at the Lazy Dog a couple of times and we visited our friends at Bootstrap and Beer By Design. What a blast! The crowds have been fantastic, the staffs have been amazing, and we are the luckiest fellas on the Earth!

So let’s see, we’ve added a mountain of new tunes since January ended. Wanna have a look?

  • Dizz Knee Land – Dada
  • No Rain – Blind Melon
  • New York City’s Killing Me – Ray LaMontagne & the Pariah Dogs
  • Hell – Squirrel Nut Zippers
  • I’ve Done Everything For You – Rick Springfield (but written by Sammy Hagar)
  • Hold On – Alabama Shakes
  • Drive – Incubus
  • Your Love – The Outfield
  • If I Should Fall From Grace With God – Pogues

Suffice it to say that the R2 “song challenge” is alive and well!

We are going to be out at Odd 13 Brewing this weekend (03/14). It’s almost St. Pat’s (so expect some Irish tunes)!!

Also, be on the lookout for new R2 stickers and….wait for it…..T-Shirts! Yes. T-shirts! Oh, and new gig art!

What? January’s over? How did that happen?

I swear, sometimes time passes faster than I care to admit. It’s already Feb 8th and I am *still* writing the Best of 2014 Albums list (and already starting the 2015 list). Things have been crazybusy over here in Camp R2. 2015 is off to a roaring start, we’ve already played five shows since the last gig recap! We’ve hit some of our favorite places, and broached some new territory.

  • We kicked off the year Jan 17 at Odd 13 Brewing in Lafayette, CO. Lance and the bunch over there always take care of us! It was a lights-down, move-the-tables boogiefest!
  • The next week, on Jan 23, we slid just down the street to hang with Eric and Davin from Liquid Mechanics. If you haven’t yet been to LMBC, do yourself a favor and get on that, it rules!
  • We rounded out the month with a NEW VENUE at Miner’s Tavern in Erie. New venues are always tricky, you never know how it’s going to go. Suffice it to say that this went ok. I haven’t seen a dance floor so heavily used since we played a very drunken wedding reception last summer. =) We look forward to getting back there!
  • February began as if January never ended! We kicked it at Beer By Design in Northglenn, CO on Feb 6. It was amazing to see some groups of folks out for the second or third time. Infecting new Rogues is something that makes this all worth while!
  • Last night was a special event for us. The Black Rock Elementary Silent Auction holds a special place in our hearts. When we started this little project, it was a side project to a side project. We all had other things going on. In fact, we didn’t have a name…we started life as “The Acoustic Side Project”, which as band names go, is not awesome. We then tried on the slightly edgier “Erieolas” (We had a salute and everything). Given that the first organization to give us a chance to play for them was the BRE PTO, we opted to tone it down a little. =) In November of 2012, those good folks invited us to play their event. Inasmuch as new venues are a little nerve wracking, new bands, new events, new rooms, and new chemistries are terrifying. That said, we are so thankful for that opportunity. It launched what has become the most fun project I have been involved with in many, many years. This was the third spin at the auction for us, and it was fantastic. We got to play an iconic local venue in Nissi’s, and made a bunch of new friends!

It’s moments like this, after a busy run, where I like to take a look back. This little “acoustic side project” has grown in to something meaningful. A heartfelt thank you to all of you folks who come out, week after week, and sing along, dance, request crazy songs, and make this experience genuinely amazing. All musicians say this, because it’s true – without you, we’d be in someone’s basement making music. Still having fun. Still scratching an itch…but Rogue 2 would be something very different.

Ok, that’s enough schmaltzy sap for one blog post! We will see you all this Friday (02/13) back at The Lazy Dog Erie!
